Chi-X Japan launched an alternative trading venue on 29 July, 2010. Chi-X Japan operates a trading venue for the trading of equities listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange and the Osaka Securities Exchange. As with other Chi-X trading venues, Chi-X Japan’s aim is to provide investors with more efficient markets by offering our low-cost, low-latency, innovative price structure and open, FIX protocol-based architecture. In combination with the TSE’s Arrowhead upgrade in January 2010, Chi-X Japan expects to make the Japanese cash equity market trading environment more attractive by bringing new international liquidity to Japan, helping to increase overall market volumes, reducing transaction costs and improving investment performance.

In Singapore Chi-X Global has joined forces with the Singapore Exchange (SGX) to develop and launch     Chi-East, the first exchange-backed, non-displayed venue in Asia. Chi-East, which plans to commence operations in Q3 2010*, will provide for the trading of securities listed in Australia, Hong Kong, Japan and Singapore. Chi-East will act as an independent liquidity aggregator for the sell side and offer another execution option in the form of a non-display venue that will expand the range of available solutions for conducting block transactions with price improvement.

Chi-X Australia is well advanced in its plans to offer a market for trading ASX quoted securities. The Australian Government recently announced its “in-principle” approval of the Chi-X market and work is underway for a launch in the early part of next year*. Chi-X Australia’s market model will provide a low latency central limit order book (or “lit book”) for trading all stocks from the S&P/ASX200 index and ETFs with a range of innovative order types.

In other Asian markets Chi-X continues to engage national regulators and exchanges to see how
Chi-X’s innovative market models can best be implemented in 2011 and beyond.

*Subject to final regulatory approval.
